Based in Paris, PlaNet Finance is an international non-profit organization and is active in more than 60 countries. It has an international network of banks, financial institutions, international organizations, and governments.

The organization’s mission is to reduce poverty in the world through the development of microfinance - the supply of small amounts of loan and financial services to people living in poverty. PlaNet Finance brings financial instruments like credit, loans, and investments to disadvantaged people who are typically unable to access such instruments from traditional financial institutions. Thus, through business and by supporting the entrepreneurial spirit of individuals, PlaNet Finance hopes to stimulate personal and financial growth, and eventually, end poverty.
The concept of microfinance is the brainchild of Professor Muhammad Yunus, a professor of economics who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for his efforts to create economic and social development from below. Professor Yunus is a member of the Committee of Honor at PlaNet Finance. |

From the time Jacques Attali created the non-profit organization PlaNet Finance in 1998, Sogeti has been partner. The reason for this long-standing social partnership is the seamless alignment of values between the two organizations.

These values played a significant role in Sogeti winning the 2008 IBM Beacon Awards for Corporate Citizenship.
Sogeti provides PlaNet Finance the necessary infrastructure for a proper IT system. We offer the technological expertise and critical IT systems support. Three professionals from Sogeti are working full-time at PlaNet Finance to control all of their IT infrastructure and network. Currently, Sogeti is working to restructure their IT system to make it more efficient, enabling PlaNet Finance to concentrate its primary resources in helping people around the world. |
Jacques Attali, President of PlaNet Finance, said: “PlaNet Finance has a long way to go in achieving its ambitious goals, as the scale of our task is immense. But, with the support of companies such as Sogeti, we can step up our work in the field more quickly and effectively and raise awareness in the professional sector.”
Now, Sogeti wants to deepen its relations with PlaNet Finance by spreading the initiative across the Group. New developments like the new Microfinance Chair in collaboration with a business university in France are steps in that direction.
