Carlota Perez
Carlota Perez is a Professor of Technology and Socio-Economic Development. Perez, who currently resides in United Kingdom, is Honorary Research Fellow at SPRU, University of Sussex, and Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance (CERF), University of Cambridge.
Perez has held posts in the government of Venezuela, first in the Institute of Foreign Commerce in relation with the technology aspects of the North-South Dialogue (1975-1977), later as founding Director of Technology in the Ministry of Industry (1980-1983).
Her articles from the early 1980s and her book Technological Revolutions and Financial Capital: The Dynamics of Bubbles and Golden Ages have contributed to the present understanding of the relationship between technical and institutional change, between finance and technological diffusion and between technology and economic development. She is perhaps most famous for her development of the concept of the “Techno-Economic Paradigm Shift”.
Michael Braungart
Michael Braungart is a German chemist who advocates that humans can have a positive ecological footprint by redesigning systems which support life. A former Greenpeace activist who once lived in a tree as protest, he is now a professor of process engineering.
The book is a manifesto calling for the transformation of human industry through ecologically intelligent design.
