GAME ON

eSports has grown from a $691 million valuation to a potential worth of $1.9 billion by 2026. Why? The players, the games, the fans. eSports is a monumental sporting endeavour, and Sogeti is proud to be part of the ongoing competitive gaming story.

Sogeti & eSports

From organizing offline and online game nights at our offices for years, to sponsoring three eSports teams, gaming has always been part of life at Sogeti.

For us, as a technology provider, eSports has an increasingly important role at several levels: for colleagues to enjoy and meet each other, and as a driver of business innovation.

The eSports opportunity

COVID-19 has accelerated many long-standing trends—and the growing popularity of gaming and eSports is no exception.

As the pandemic delays production schedules for traditional content and prompts the cancelation of many professional sporting events, the supersized growth of eSports is only expected to continue. In fact, industry experts estimate that viewership could reach 646 million by 2023, outpacing traditional television and film viewership growth in some markets.

A recent report from Capgemini Invent shows the various opportunities available in eSports. Learn more by downloading our recent eSports paper.

Structured around the two games sponsored as part of our partnership with Team Oplon, the competition saw participation by nearly 1,600 players. The finale was hosted at Vivatech to a packed venue with a viewership of more than 40,000 spectators!

Cyber E-scape

In 2019, we launched Sogeti Cyber E-scape; the first dedicated Cybersecurity escape game. While it might not conjure thoughts of eSports, we challenged ethical hackers, crypto experts, malware analysts and more to a breakout game, infiltrating the Shadow League HQ to bring down this criminal organization. 400 candidates. 60 cybersecurity experts. The prize? €10,000.
