In Pursuit of Digital Happiness
9:00 – 9:30am Welcome and Setting the Stage Two recent deep dives with a group of IT Executives gave us more insights in how our current research topic “Digital Happiness” is going to evolve. The fundamentals on which the program In Pursuit of Digital Happiness was based are simple: the technological and financial limitations of digital progress have been dealt with. The real question to answer for businesses to be successful in the society that emerges is, “What do we desire?” Happiness, in the broad definition by the school of positive psychology – from fun and the daily pleasure to getting in a state of flow, and the rewarding feeling of living a meaningful life and doing meaningful things – guided the discussions about the social desirability. Jorik Abspoel,
Global Head of Digital, Sogeti
Menno Van Doorn,
Director of VINT Research Institute, Sogeti
9:30 – 10:00am In Pursuit of Happy Consumers Algorithmic Business and the Pursuit of Digital Happiness, should happiness be at the core of your digital strategy? should you become the guardian of the digital happiness of your customers? Picture material Michiel Boreel,
Global CTO, Sogeti
10:00 – 10:30am The Economics of Happiness Professor Senik does research into income distribution and subjective well-being and is looking at possibilities to incorporate big data in her well being research. In this presentation she explains her findings, e.g. how income comparisons within firms influences the happiness of the employees. In the discussion with Michiel Boreel, professor Senik answers the ‘big question’ from her perspective: "Does Digital make us happier or more miserable?". Claudia Senik,
Professor, Paris School of Economics

Designing for Happiness
1:30 – 2:00pm Designing for Happiness Design firm Idean has a truly client centered design approach, which helps while aiming for Digital Happiness. He describes really interesting cases such as their design proces for 23andMe, the first genetic analysis service available directly to consumers that includes health risk and ancestor reports. Another interesting case is the design they did for engineering giant Sandvik. Idean’s design vision and principles are thorough and have the end-users happiness in mind Oli Shaw, Idean
2:00 – 2:30pm Design Principles for Digital Happiness, Architecture Manifesto The main responsibility of the Architect is to make sure that the end result rests on a solid technical foundation. This is the foundation of the Architecture Manifesto, translated in contextual, conceptual, logical and physical architecture components Marlies van Steenbergen,
Principle Consultant Enterprise Architecture, Sogeti
  Breakout sessions: By Design
2:30 – 3:15pm Security by Design
Pierre-Luc Refalo
Security is an ever more important topic for value designers. As our world becomes digital, today’s safely-hidden back office system is tomorrow’s public API, open to anyone on the Internet with a hacking tool and time on their hands.
The security community has developed a well understood set of principles used to build systems that are secure (or at least securable) by design, but this topic often isn’t included in the training of software developers, assuming that it’s only relevant to security specialists.
Quality by Design
Mark Buenen Quality by Design starts and ends with the customer.[1] Every new product introduction has someamount of trade-off involved. If there are multiple customers, they may have conflicting needs. Even the same customer may have needs that compete with each other. Capacity and speed compete with cost of operation. Capacity can compete with speed. Flexibility and feature-rich offerings may have reduced ease of use, and so on.[7]
Quality by design offers a range of tools and methods intended to make these tradeoffs explicit and optimal for the customer. Some tools are highly mathematical, and others relate more to customer behavior. Quality by Design sets strong expectations for creative approaches to functional design, product features and goals, and production design.[10]
Measurement by Design
Sandeep Sachdeva The main responsibility of the Architect is to make sure that the end result rests on a solid technical foundation. Her mission is to apply core architecture values and principles, and make sure business objectives are translated into Happy customers. This is the foundation of the Architecture Manifesto, translated in contextual, conceptual, logical and physical architecture components

3:45 – 4:00pm Breakout sessions: By Design report out
4:00 – 4:30pm AI by Design Last Year, IBM announced a series of upgrades and new offerings to Watson Data Platform, an integrated set of tools, services and data in the IBM Cloud that enables data scientists, developers and business teams to gain intelligence from data. Let’s zoom in to some best practices and use cases that you can start with tomorrow.
These new features will provide data professionals with the foundation they need to safely and securely share data across teams and environments, in order to more easily analyze and prepare data for AI applications. By powering self-service data access and unifying data for visibility across all sources, Watson Data Platform addresses many of the problems data professionals encounter day-to-day, including inaccessible and disparate data sets, and discrete tooling that obstructs collaboration.
Jaume Miralles
4:30 – 5:00pm No Digital Happy Customers without Digital Happy Employees; Smart Workspace How happy are your employees? The ability to free up your people to easily collaborate, innovate, and work the way they want to work is a new measure of business success. That’s because a contented workforce is a productive workforce. Happy employees are customer focused, enthusiastic, and committed to your brand. The workplace is continually transforming. Digitization is dramatically changing the way in which we work (together). Technological innovations and new experiences continuously create new options, causing our ideas about work and cooperation to change accordingly. Organizations are also looking for opportunities to improve the productivity of knowledge workers whilst being secure. Frederic Cruchet,
Global Head of Cloud, Sogeti

Digital Happiness Delivered
12:00 – 12:30pm Beautiful Delivery – Autonomous teams Many organizations still struggle with how to get started with their digital transformation. They have read the articles, listened to the presentation, and have seen the videos, so they know that they need to work in a new way with new tools, but they still need practical advice on how to get going, and fast. We have an idea that we have tried and seen that it works, we call it beautiful delivery, so let me tell you about that. Chris Forsberg,
Global Lead Architect, Sogeti
12:30 – 1:00pm Remove as much friction as possible to deliver Digital Happiness; Automation first Anything that differs from the automatic flow of being means employing an extra "process" to get it done. This process is not costless. Friction in the economy usually means when things cost to move A to B even when A and B are theoretically the same. Let’s inspire you on the latest possibilities on Automation for yourself and the organization. Sanjay Chalke,
Group Automation Leader, Sogeti
