Sogeti builds a new data hub (IIHUB) for a Life Insurance Company

Sogeti builds a new data hub (IIHUB) for a Life Insurance Company

Background

The client stored data in silos. Lack of data governance prevented them from providing reliable Business Intelligence and Analytics to business. They were also not fully compliant to regulatory requirements. 30+ data stores on old mainframe systems and1000+ incorrect reports were generated due to incorrect and redundant data resulting in financial loss and non-compliance of regulatory requirements. This led to reduction of sales performance across enterprise.

Solution

Sogeti initiated a Data strategy program to build a new data hub (IIHUB) that follows the Insurance Industry Standard ACORD Information model. They built an Operational Data Store that feeds a Data Warehouse used for analytics and acts as a single trusted point of truth to provide trusted, reliable Business Intelligence.

The team also created a Business Intelligence Framework to improve decision making, understand operations and drive growth. ETL solution through a generic framework approach used design template to reduce design efforts and used coding patterns, error reporting and record reconciliation logic to reduce development efforts.

Benefits

Client Offshore team size which was 4 increased to 11 after moving to IMSC location, 70% of team members got certified on DataStage V9.1. Onsite team has reduced to 2 from 5 as more work is pushed to offshore.

Offshore involved in majority of SDLC phases – Design to UAT support right now which was not the case earlier where offshore was involved only in Code Development phase. The OTACE score was 4.5/5 in 2014 and Customer Satisfaction Survey score of 10/10 in 2015.
