This year, the city of Glasgow in the UK will host the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties, COP26. This global event marks the deadline for governments to set out their more ambitious climate change goals following the Paris Agreement signed at COP21 six years ago. It comes at a critical moment as the nations of the world look to rebuild their economies from the impacts of COVID-19, and when a green recovery towards a net zero world is paramount.

At Capgemini, we are committed to being part of this historic event and to signal our commitment to acting on sustainability with governments, as well as with like-minded partners and clients.

Capgemini is taking part in a series of events at COP26 with a strong and sustainable presence in Glasgow, taking part in a number of initiatives and further sustainability-focused events mobilizing our expert teams based out of the UK to contribute, share, and find solutions. Opening session

As many governments globally have made commitments to deliver net zero by 2050, this high-profile session will explore the progress being made and the challenges, achievements, and opportunities that face us along the way. Keynote speakers, including Capgemini CEO Aiman Ezzat, will discuss global insights on strategies and innovations to create the zero-carbon economy of the future.

‘Powering the World’ session: Solving the challenges of the global energy transition

A global transformation of energy systems presents the challenge of balancing energy security, energy affordability, and environmental sustainability. This session, featuring Capgemini’s global industry leader for energy and utility, James Forrest, will explore how this shift could affect sectors, create new investment challenges, and generate opportunities for partnership and collaboration.

Closing session

As there is no Planet B, we need to focus on protecting Planet A. In the closing session, Capgemini Invent UK’s Vice President of Sustainability Solutions, Courtney Holms, will discuss how impactful coalitions and public private partnerships are successfully tackling the climate crisis and accelerating this Decade of Action while bringing us back in balance with nature and the planet.

Tortoise x Capgemini ThinkIn

What should CEOs actually do about the climate crisis?

Capgemini’s ThinkIn, in partnership with Tortoise Media, will be hosted at The New York Times’ Climate Hub in Glasgow. Rosemary Stark, Capgemini’s Chief Sales Officer, will discuss and debate the role of business leaders in the climate crisis. Undoubtedly, there is no way to carbon neutrality without business playing its part. This debate will explore what this actually means and what should be required of businesses going forward in order to resolve the climate crisis.
