Sogeti sets up a security operations center for the Renault Group

Capgemini group’s wholly-owned subsidiary Sogeti in France helped Renault set up its SOC[1] project and now supervises the company’s IT infrastructure. This new collaboration is part of Renault's international cybersecurity strategy. It responds to the ongoing challenge of improving the protection of Renault’s information systems across its global operations.

Paris, 1 June 2016 - Automotive giant Renault partnered with Sogeti to establish its new security operations center (SOC). The team of analysts at Sogeti's SOCin Toulouse has been continuously monitoring Renault's IT infrastructure since early December 2015. The SOC is now managing security for the vehicle manufacturer’s global activities.

Within months Sogeti had rolled out a dedicated SOC, tailored to the requirements and specific risks of Renault's business. The key success factors of this project have been:

  • Close collaboration between Sogeti's analysts and Renault's IT and cybersecurity teams.
  • The use of several market-leading solutions for coordinating security information and event management information.
  • The implementation of a continuous improvement process by the combined Sogeti and Renault team to increase detection levels and improve the resolution of incidents.
  • Sogeti’s incorporation of new IOCs[2] into the system for improving and accelerating the effectiveness of detection measures.

"The implementation of a SOC is essential and forms part of Renault's international cybersecurity strategy. Sogeti has been able to meet our requirements thanks to its experts' thorough knowledge of cybersecurity and supervision systems," explains Pierre Gachon, Director of IT Security for the Renault group.

"Renault is a strategically important Capgemini Group customer. With our expertise in the automotive sector and comprehensive security supervision (SOC) capabilities, we are delighted to support Renault in its measures to better protect its IT infrastructure," adds Franck Greverie, Capgemini Group Cloud & Cybersecurity Leader

[1] SOC: Security Operations Center is an IT security supervision centre which can detect and prevent possible attacks and manage related incidents.

[2] IOC = Indicators of compromise: Risk/threat indicators. A combination of technical information likely to result in the infrastructure being compromised, which can be identified through system analysis, and malicious code or network monitoring.
