Winners of the 6th Defi H Challenge awarded by Sogeti
The Defi H 2017 initiative has rewarded the three winning teams who created the most innovative solutions during the six months’ competition.
Paris, France, May 24, 2017 - Sogeti France, a 100% subsidiary of the Capgemini Group, in cooperation with Le Monde Informatique, yesterday awarded the top 3 projects focusing on innovative technological applications for people with disabilities. Charles Rozoy, Paralympic swimming champion in London 2012, is the sponsor of this 6th edition. As a part of its 50th anniversary, the Capgemini Group highlights the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship of young students who are part of a process of transforming business.
Defi H invites students from French universities and Major Schools to increase their creative and technological potential by developing an innovative product or service for people with disabilities.
These solutions should promote the training, employability and employment retention of people with disabilities. This year, the teams worked on innovations based on both software and hardware in creative spaces (Fab Lab). They could mobilize their ecosystems and used collective intelligence to create integrated solutions.
The Defi H teams consist of 4 to 6 students from the same school, a project-specific association, a Sogeti France coach, and one of the historical partners: Mission Handicap Sogeti, LADAPT, Tremplin, Exéco, Fondation Garches and Talentéo, that have all supported this challenge since its creation.

In parallel, the project Poly S.E.N.S (Poly stimulation emotional and sensory), carried by ENSEA, Cergy, participated outside of the competition. It is an interface that allows people with multiple disabilities to better interact with their environment through their senses (hearing, sight, touch) by mixing ergonomics and music.
"Innovation, which is a part of the 50 years of the Group’s epic, is at the heart of our digital transformation business and is a necessary performance leverage for our customers. Its use in Defi H is also a tremendous springboard for creating collective value for people who use this technological potential. This edition unveils innovative applications that I am convinced, will be widely spread thanks to the increased adoption of the cloud and digital technology and solutions," said Eric de Quatrebarbes, Executive Director of Sogeti France.
"Being myself affected by disability, I am pleased to be this year’s sponsor of Defi H, supporting innovative projects. I am a dreamer that have realized my childhood dream: to become an Olympic champion which I did by becoming a Paralympic champion in London in 2012. I want to show that we can achieve the impossible by innovating. I managed to overcome my psychological limitations by reinventing myself. Today I am here to encourage those who wish to improve and simplify the daily lives of disabled people. I am therefore proud to support innovation for a better future" said Charles Rozoy, Paralympic swimming champion.
"Le Monde Informatique is very proud to participate to this 6th edition of
Defi H and to support the students in this race full of crazy ideas, common sense and often System Resourcefulness. Every year, in each team we find an overflow of energy and a real determination to lead their project to the end. It is never easy to get involved in Defi H, but its objective "to be useful and create real value" is the best driver for all these students, an objective that has stayed relevant during the last 6 years and will do for the years to come”, adds Jean Royné, CEO of IT News Information, publisher at Computerworld.
