Reduced infrastructure costs thanks to new collaboration solution
Sogeti provided a SharePoint collaboration platform that reduced infrastructure costs and increased external collaboration for NCC.
Sogeti built a collaboration solution called StarSites for NCC. The system is widely used and is the promoted place for document and team site collaboration within NCC. NCC was already using Office 365. Thereore it was only natural to extend StarSites service to SharePoint Online. NCC stated that a successful implementation would provide an “out of the box” solution to known requirements based on SharePoint Online that reduced infrastructure and operational costs.
Sogeti built a SharePoint Online solution, which was mainly built by use of “out of the box” functionality. Adaptations was made without server code.
Azure WebApps and Office PNP framework was used for site template and site provisioning. When the new solution was made, sites was created and data migrated by use of the tool ShareGate and PowerShell script. The migration of the 1100 site collections was made smoothly. The project that was delivered with a scrum influenced approach, was delivered on time, on budget and with expected functionality and quality.
NCC now has a modern SharePoint Online collaboration site, which easily can be integrated with other O365 services. The solution also reduced infrastructure costs and lower operational costs. The continuous updates give the users the possibility to use the latest functionality early. No costly migration projects need to be made in future. NCC now also have amuch better method to collaborate and share data with external parties.
