In our previous article, we gave you a taste of what’s possible with Microsoft Power Platform. While it’s clear that employees can drive massive value from the solution by building their own apps, they might also turn to specialized support in key areas, as set out below.

Compliance

Compliance can be a barrier when building mobile apps. Your employees must be sure that the apps they build fulfill local and global laws and regulations, such as GDPR. This is especially pertinent in the financial sector, where staff are bound by more regulations than elsewhere.

Organizations can turn to expert support to help ensure their Power Platform development activity meets complicated, overlapping regulatory requirements. Our work with Rabobank, for example, helped ensure compliance in two ways. First, by offering a Compliance Center for staff to record details and check compliance for each of their new apps. Second, by executing a multi-geo strategy to ensure that data used in any staff app remains stored in the correct data center.

Integration and migration

Power Platform intuitively integrates with Microsoft applications such as Dynamics, Office 365 and Azure through connectors, and with various data services via the Common Data Service (CDS).

Organizations may also look to use data from legacy and bespoke applications in the system. Expert support may be required, here. At Sogeti, we helped pharmaceutical company Janssen-Cilag to migrate data from InfoPath forms to Microsoft Sharepoint, and built InfoPath functionality that can be used on the Power Platform. These developments have enabled Janssen-Cilag employees to continue to use their trusted, familiar apps within Power Platform.

Training

Power Platform is a new unknown for most employees. Expert support can help drive up adoption rates among staff, and help ensure employees draw maximum value from the solution

We supported enterprises across the globe with a comprehensive ‘scale up’ program. This ‘App in a Day’ training to give staff hands-on experience with building build Power Apps; workshops to help them develop ‘Minimum Lovable Products’ on the system, and hackathons and other programs that draw on the expert knowledge of Sogeti’s low-code community.

Ready to help

Power Platform helps enterprises to help themselves, by powering increased productivity and innovation beyond IT. But to maximize the value of their investment in low code, organizations must also plan to tackle the compliance, integration, migration and training challenges that come with scaling low code systems. For that, they need expert support.
